WindJet Air Knives feature a unique 1/8″ leading edge along the length of the knife to direct a consistent and controlled air stream that retains its integrity further downstream and eliminates spotting and blotching. The air stream produced by the knives entrains ambient air to increase the total volume of air and maximize drying and blow-off efficiency.

Unlike other blower types, the regenerative blowers included with the packages are rugged, reliable and require infrequent, minimal maintenance. Plus, no sound enclosure is needed because the blowers provide low noise operation. Each air knife package is customized for the application. Air knives are available in lengths from 6” to 36” and two air slot sizes, .040” and .060”. Regenerative blower assemblies are available from 5.5 to 30 HP. Packages include pressure relief valve, pressure gauge, air inlet filter, filter monitoring gauge, vibration dampener, fittings and mounting adapter.

Unique Protruding Leading Edge Leads to a More Controlled Air Stream

The leading edge of the WindJet Air Knife extends 1/8″ beyond the air slot along the length of the knife. The air flow out of the knife is a straight stream that retains its integrity in a more controlled manner. WindJet Air Knife Dimensions. The extended edge also improves the air entrainment around the air knife body. Operating on the principles of the Coanda effect and air entrainment, the WindJet Air Knife provides a steady, consistent, high-volume stream of air. The longer edge of the air knife takes advantage of the Coanda effect, which induces the supplied air to attach itself to the surface of the knife. The integrity of the air stream is maintained further downstream and a condition conducive to the entraining of ambient air is present, increasing the total volume of air (see Figure 2).

The resulting uniform, high volume, constant air stream along the entire knife length eliminates spotting or blotching for a higher quality, consistent dryoff process.

Another advantage of the knife’s leading edge is that it helps application setup. The extended edge provides a visual guide to indicate the path of the air stream. It literally points out the direction of the flow so you can accurately position the knife for optimum performance.
