How To Reduce Compressed Air Consumption in Drying and Blow-off Applications

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Paper highlights:

  • Five reasons why you should reduce compressed air use in addition to the cost-savings
  • Three options for reducing your compressed air use by 25 to 90% and how to determine the feasibility of these approaches in your operations
  • How to eliminate the use of compressed air completely

WindJet® Nozzles for Use with Compressed Air

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009
AA727 WindJet nozzle generates a quiet, efficient, controlled, flat fan distribution of compressed air. The air stream is discharged through 16 precision orifices that ensure uniform distribution and spray pattern integrity. Recessed orifices on the ABS and PPS models protect against external damage and also provide an air escape should the nozzle accidentally be placed against a flat surface. A convenient mounting hole on the ABS and PPS models ensures correct positioning on the header or manifold for fixed applications.

Choose from a variety of materials and inlet connections:

  • Durable ABS plastic
  • Chemical-resistant PPS (polyphenylene sulfide)
  • High-performance thermoplastic that withstands temperatures up to 300°F (149°C)
  • Aluminum
  • Stainless steel
  • ¼” NPT or BSPT (M or F) inlet connections

AA707 WindJet nozzles produce a tightly directed round spray pattern with minimum noise levels and feature extended ribs to protect the recessed orifices against external damage. The ribs also provide an air escape should the nozzle be placed against a flat surface, and they accommodate a deep well socket.

Material options include:

  • Durable ABS plastic
  • Chemical-resistant PPS (polyphenylene sulfide)
  • Aluminum
  • Stainless steel
  • Kynar® PVDF

The aluminum and stainless steel versions feature interchangeable caps that control air usage. The aluminum caps are color coded for easy identification of flow rates. The nozzles feature a ¼” NPT or BSPT (M) inlet connection.

Air Control Nozzles

Air Control Nozzles

  • Use when air recycling is required.
  • Offers highest impact of all products.
  • Ideal as a final stage blow-off after blower packages for difficult round objects that require hign velocities. Examples include IV bags and packaged chickens.
  • When there are existing compressed air lines.
  • Allows for customisable air stream.
  • Offers the widest range of materials.

WindJet® Variable Air Amplifiers

WindJet® Variable Air Amplifiers

WindJet® Variable Air Amplifiers

  • Use for more direct air.
  • Use when air recycling is required.
  • Ideal for robotic applications.
  • Allows for adjustability in performance.
  • Can be used as an exhaust device.

WindJet® Low Flow Air Knives

WindJet® Low Flow Air Knives

WindJet® Low Flow Air Knives

  • When there are existing compressed air lines.
  • When there is limited mounting space for air knives.
  • When the process cannot handle any temperature rise in the air.
  • When standard parts require less than 61 cm total combined length of all knives.
  • When the knives can be mounted close to the parts.
  • When a continuous stream of compressed air is needed.
  • When it is necessary to cycle the air on and off.

WindJet® Air Knife Drying and Blow-off Blower Packages

WindJet® Air Knife Drying and Blow-off Blower Packages

WindJet® Air Knife Drying and Blow-off Blower Packages

  • When the total combined length of knives needed is over 61 cm.
  • Offers the longest length of knife/knives combinations.
  • When a continuous air stream is required.
  • Offers the cleanest air available (HEPA filtration an option).
  • When heated air from the temperature rise in the blower is needed.
  • Has the lowest operating energy costs.
  • Has own air source.
  • Offers the most versatilty in applications.
