There are dozens of food processing processes that use spray technology. In addition, food plants have extensive cleaning and sanitation requirements and spray technology is usually the preferred solution. With decades of experience in food processing and the industry’s most extensive product line, we’ve helped hundreds of plants improve quality, minimize waste and increase operating efficiency. We can help you too.
Change the Way You Spray to Use Less Water
There are dozens of changes you can make to consume less water without compromising performance in your processing and sanitation operations. Here are just a few:
- Use automated tank washers to clean tanks and vats. Water savings are typically significant – millions of gallons per year
- Replace open hoses with spray guns and reduce water consumption by 50% or more
- Use spray manifolds equipped with nozzles instead of pipes with holes to reduce water use by as much as 50%
- Inspect and replace worn spray nozzles on a regular basis – water waste from even slightly worn nozzles can easily reach hundreds of gallons per hour.

Spray nozzles, spray guns, spray accessories and systems are widely used in automotive applications. Popular uses include:
- Metal pretreatment
- Parts drying
- Tank agitation
- Paint tank cleaning
- and more.

 |
| We have a complete line of nozzles for cleaning, rinsing, drying, tank drying, painting, robotic applications and more and extensive experience helping manufacturers solve spray problems.
Here’s just one example:
Spray Nozzles Used in Rinsing and Drying Processes
A large automotive assembly plant was installing a new truck cab line. During the design of the line, plant engineers experimented with everything from a manually operated line using hoses and wands, to blow-off nozzles but were struggling to find a solution. The application required a rinsing and drying process that would contribute to overall finish quality. but irregular surfaces and rolled steel areas on the truck cabs posed a real challenge.
The engineers knew they needed spray nozzles but they weren’t sure which ones to use and how to install them to reach all the nooks and crannies on the truck cab. The solution we recommended included stalling 84 VeeJet® nozzles on five rinsing arches with adjustable ball fittings. These fittings provide adjustable positioning of spray nozzles for more exact control of the spray direction. Based on quality control inspections, the nozzles could be easily calibrated with the simple turn of a screw head.
Deionized water is used in the rinsing process, so stainless steel nozzles were specified and now deliver from 100 to 150 psi (7 bar to 10 bar) of pressure along the five rinsing arches.
For drying, we recommended the construction of two arches equipped with 70 WindJet® nozzles. The WindJet nozzles use existing plant air and provide quick drying with very efficient use of compressed air. In addition, our 727 WindJet nozzles met OSHA’s requirements for sound levels since workers are in close proximity to the nozzles. |

Using an acoustic sensor linked to the monitoring device and diagnostic software, SprayCheck TW “listens” for changes that indicate:
- Changes in rotation speed and frequency
- Spray loss
- Nozzle clogging
- Pressure variation
Audible and visual alarms notify operators as soon as corrective action is needed. Reporting tools provide detailed documentation of cleaning operations for food, pharmaceutical, chemical and other processors who must stay in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
SprayCheck TW is easy to install since its non-intrusive acoustic sensor mounts on the tank exterior. It is the only system that can be used with pressurized and non-pressurized tanks of all sizes and configurations. |

Tank Washing Products
Choose from our variety of tank washing nozzles to clean your tank, vat, vessel or container. Whether your tank requires a light rinse or a high-impact wash, we have the right nozzle for your application. Click on a product of interest for additional information. |
| High-Pressure (Motor Driven)
Motor-driven tank washers use solid stream nozzles to provide high-impact cleaning and remove stubborn residue. The motor, air or electric, drives the nozzle assembly. Two to four nozzles revolve around the central axis of the nozzle assembly. Motors are positioned outside the tank for longer wear life.
Motorized tank washers offer independent control of the liquid pressure for cleaning and the rotational speed (cycle time) to optimize the cleaning process. Units are customizable to your operations by changing flow rates by using different nozzles or by adjusting inlet pressure.
Various shaft lengths available. |
 |
| Fluid Driven Constant Speed Tank Wash Nozzles
Unlike conventional fluid-driven rotating nozzles where cleaning efficiency decreases as pressures increase, our Rokon® tank washing nozzles increase cleaning impact as the fluid pressure increases. The nozzles rotate at a constant speed of approximately 10 RPM when fluid pressure is between 15 to 230 psi (1 to 16 bar). Higher fluid pressure results in a direct increase in impact of the cleaning fluid. And high-impact spraying means liquid consumption is minimized and cleaning efficiency is improved. The limited rotational speed of the nozzle makes it highly useful for cleaning, sanitizing and foaming applications. Choose from a wide variety of sizes, capacities, materials and spray coverages. |

| Fixed Tank Wash Nozzles
Fixed position nozzles provide complete coverage using full cone nozzles. Advantages include a simple design, no moving parts and wide range of spray coverages. Choose from a wide variety of sizes, types, capacities and materials. Ideal for clean-in-place applications. |
 Fixed-Spray (Stationary) |
SprayCheck® TW Monitoring Device
Verifies and validates operation of tank cleaning nozzles
SprayCheck TW is the first monitoring device to work from the exterior and to require no modification of the tank. It provides highly sensitive monitoring and complete reporting on tank washing nozzle performance. |

 Fluid-Driven (Turbine) |
Fluid-Driven Reactionary Force Tank Wash Nozzles
The reactionary force of the fluid leaving the nozzle orifice rotates the nozzles – no power source required. For improved cleaning, some of the nozzles are available with a solid stream spray pattern or with a flat fan spray pattern for gentle rinsing. Choose from a wide variety of sizes, types, capacities, spray coverages and materials. |
